École Golden Gate Middle School

École Golden Gate Middle School (GGMS) is a bilingual middle school at 330 Bruce Ave. in Winnipeg, Manitoba. GGMS is the only middle school in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division to have French immersion available. Not all students attending École Golden Gate Middle School take the French immersion track and as they choose to stick with the standard English track. The current principal of GGMS is Mr. S. Thomson and the two vice principals are Ms. T. Baydock and Mr. M. Gomes. École Golden Gate Middle School sports teams are the "Golden Gate Gators" and the mascot is a gator. Generally, students from this school passing to grade 9 attend Sturgeon Heights Collegiate. There are many programs for students to participate in, as there is also a Band Parents Council for parents/guardians of Gr.6-8 band students.
==History==
The first principal of Golden Gate Middle School was Bert Kroeker, in 1960. It first started out as a high school, with the western wing not built. The wing was later built and classrooms were added, bringing it to what it is now.
